Questions about HotSpots

Frequently Asked Questions

Is one access controller enough to cover all of my area?

Yes, one Wifi Smart Pack™ access controller provides wireless coverage for most small business locations. However, if you have specific premises and consequently need additional access controllers, you can order one from our website. Check out our pricing plans.

Do I always have to use Wifi Smart Access™ scratch cards?

No, Wifi Smart Pack™ interface allows you to generate access codes which can be printed out and given to your customers instead of scratch cards.

Can I set up a content control service?

A content control (parental control) service is in most cases optionally offered by your local Internet Service Provider.

Do I have the right to resell my local ISP's services?

Please carefully read your user agreement with your local ISP.

Will my customers have to change their mobile terminal configuration?

No, our solution is completely plug-and-play and does the job. Discover what your customers will see.

Are PDAs and Wifi phones supported?

Yes, just like all the other Wi-Fi enabled devices.

What if I want to close my HotSpot?

Wifi Smart Pack™ is a commitment-free solution. You can stop whenever you want.

How can I make sure that only my customers use the connection?

When a person connects to the Wifi Smart Access™ network associated to your HotSpot, he/she will be asked to enter an access code located on the scratch card. Without this code, it is impossible to use Internet.

What will be the average connection speed?

It depends on your local ISP. Wifi Smart Pack™ supports up to 54Mbit/s throughput.

Will you assist me if I have a problem with Wifi Smart Pack™?

Of course, our technical support will be happy to help you 7 days a week.

Can you guarantee that there will be no service failures?

Our system is completely redundant, so you can be sure that your HotSpot will always be up and running (except for your local ISP failures).

What is Wifi Smart Pass™?

The Wifi Smart Pass™ network consists of more than 2500 HotSpots. When you choose Wifi Smart Pack™, you are automatically and freely affiliated to this network; this means that users who already have a Wifi Smart Pass™ virtual wallet will be able to use it in your HotSpot.

How can I calculate the money that I will receive from Wifi Smart Pass™ users?

When a Wifi Smart Pass™ virtual wallet owner connects to the Internet from your HotSpot, your own price per minute is applied. Your revenue depends on the amount of time spent by this person in your HotSpot as well as on your minute price.

Example: it’s midnight, your HotSpot is closed, but a neighbor needs to check his/her mailbox. In this case, he/she connects to the Wifi Smart Access™ wireless network associated to your HotSpot, uses his/her credit card to get a Wifi Smart Pass™ virtual wallet and can then enjoy fast and secure Internet access. If this person stays online for 38 minutes and your per minute rate is 0.15 EUR/minute, you will be credited with 0.15*38=5.7 EUR minus a 5% commission.

Please note that the money spent in your HotSpot will be directly wired to your banking account thanks to our intelligent billing system which will automatically take care of all the necessary calculations.

How can I choose a per minute rate for Wifi Smart Pass™ virtual wallet users?

When you sign-up, you will be asked for this rate along with your scratch card prices. You can also modify this rate in any way through our web-based interface.

What are the advantages of being part of the Wifi Smart Pass™ network?

Your HotSpot will be listed on the Wifi Smart Pass™ website, bringing you more customers. Furthermore, you will have additional revenue from users who already have a Wifi Smart Pass™ virtual wallet.

How do I receive revenue from the Wifi Smart Pass™ network?

Every time a person uses a Wifi Smart Pass™ virtual wallet in your HotSpot, the money he/she spends is credited to your account. The monthly amount can be seen in your outgoing invoices; it will be directly transferred to your banking account.

What happens when I run out of scratch cards?

When you have few scratch cards of any type left, you will receive an automatic message inviting you to visit our website and order new scratch cards (check our price list). You can also generate access codes via our web-based interface and directly give these codes to your customers.

What’s the use of scratch cards?

Not only the Access Cards let you get more revenue by charging your customers, they also provide you with limitless marketing opportunities; you can for example give them away with a customer’s first purchase or only sell them during peak periods.

Do I have to possess any technical knowledge to open a HotSpot?

No, Wifi Smart Pack™ is a turnkey solution, which means that you only have to plug a few cables to get started.

How can I control what’s going on at my HotSpot?

Thanks to Wifi Smart Pack™, you will have access to detailed statistics concerning open sessions at your HotSpot. These statistics include connection time, bandwidth usage and MAC addresses of end users.

What is a specific time scratch card?

Wifi Smart Pack™ offers you 1-hour, 2-hours and 1-day scratch cards by default. You have the possibility to create specific scratch cards with unique durations. For example, it would be wise to issue 7-days scratch cards in a camping, whereas a café owner is more likely to give away 20-minutes access cards.

How many users can simultaneously connect in my HotSpot?

One Wifi Smart Pack™ access controller allows up to 20 simultaneous connections. This is more than enough for small- and medium-sized venues. If you are looking for a bigger network, we have an access controller which can handle up to 1000 simultaneous users. Please contact us for details.

What is AAA?

AAA stands for Authentication, Authorization, Accounting. That's exactly what Wifi Smart Pack™ does - first of all, it provides a way of identifying a user (basically through an access code found on a scratch card), then it grants this user the permission to access Internet. The final step is the data gatheting - Wifi Smart Pack™ will let you know how long this user stayed online, how much of the bandwidth he/she had used, etc.
